Prayers
Śrī Guru-Praṇāma:
oṁ ajñāna-timirāndhasya
jñānāñjana-śalākayā
caksur unmīlitaṁ yena
tasmai śrī-guruve namaḥ
“I offer my respectful obeisances unto my spiritual master, who with the torchlight of knowledge has opened my eyes, which were blinded by the darkness of ignorance.”
Two important verses:
suna suna nityananda, suna haridasa
sarvatra amara ajna karaha prakasa
prati ghare ghare giya kara ei bhiksa
‘bala krsna, bhaja krsna, kara krsna-siksa’
“Listen, listen, Nityananda! Listen, Haridasa! Make My command known everywhere! Go from house to house and beg from all the residents, ‘Please chant Krishna’s name, worship Krishna, and practise what Krishna teaches.’” (Sri Chaitanya-bhagavat, 2.13.8-9)
harer nāma harer nāma
harer nāmaiva kevalam
kalau nāsty eva nāsty eva
nāsty eva gatir anyathā
“In this age of quarrel and hypocrisy, the only means of deliverence is the chanting of the holy names of the Lord. There is no other way. There is no other way. There is no other way.”
Mahā-mantra Hare Kṛṣṇa:
Hare Kṛṣṇa Hare Kṛṣṇa
Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa Hare Hare
Hare Rāma Hare Rāma
Rāma Rāma Hare Hare
No spiritual progress without pure Devotees
Dharmavīra Mahārāja (FB: 26.1.2020)
No spiritual advancement is possible without taking instructions and serving a pure devotee of Śrī Kṛṣṇa. Not only should you take instructions from the God realised spiritual master but should follow his instructions.
How do we know if a spiritual master is realised? He has the qualities below:
- Humility
- Tolerance
- Free from false pride
- Respecting everyone according to their position
- Controls tongue:
- Eating only Kṛṣṇa-prasāda to maintain the body only and not eating feasts to gratify the senses.
- Always chanting harināma.
Chanting harināma is chanting without offenses.
Understand that Kṛṣṇa consciousness is not an institution. Book distribution is not saṅkīrtana. Saṅkīrtana is chanting the pure name of Śrī Kṛṣṇa either loudly or silently. Japa is chanted softly for one’s own benefit.
A spiritual master who is an ācārya teaches by example. A spiritual master does not associate with the opposite sex. This is completely forbidden.
According to Gaurāṅga Mahāprabhu the punishment for a sannyāsī who associates with women is death. Hare Kṛṣṇa
